Absence Policy –Therapy/Rehabilitation Sessions with
Licensed Athletic Trainer during Daily Morning Technique Classes
- Excused absences will be offered to students who have therapy/rehabilitation sessions with the licensed Athletic Trainer during daily morning ballet and/or modern technique classes. These sessions will be 30 minutes long and will be offered on an appointment ONLY basis.
- Students may not participate partially in a class during which they also have an appointment with the licensed Athletic Trainer. Students must either fully participate in the entire class or they observe the class and attend rehabilitation with the licensed Athletic Trainer.
- Students, instructors, the Undergraduate Director, the Administrative Assistant for Undergraduate Student Affairs, and the Chair will receive advance email notification of the scheduled appointments.
- Appointments MUST be made before 4:30pm on the day before the student wishes to be seen.
- If the RHS doctor and the licensed Athletic Trainer determine further therapy/rehabilitation is required they will consult with the Undergraduate Director, Chair and/or Associate Chair on a case by case basis.

Jennifer Sydor described as “dazzling” by The Boston Globe and “remarkable for her intense focus and vivid dramatic skill” by The New York Times began her training at The Dayton Ballet School. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University. In NYC, she has worked with choreographers such as Vanessa Walters, Jill Sigman, Stefanie Nelson, Nia Love, Janice Lancaster, Sharon Moore, Ben Asriel and Janessa Clark. She has toured internationally to 12 different countries as a dancer with the avant-garde performance troupe and electro pop band Fischerspooner, in collaboration with the experimental theater company, The Wooster Group. She has performed in Doug Elkins’ Bessie Award winning Fraulein Maria, as well as a featured performer in David Parker and The Bang Group’s Nut/Cracked, for five seasons. She was a guest artist with the Dayton Ballet’s 75th Anniversary season, featured as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. Recently she danced the role of the bird in Peter and The Wolf, directed by Isaac Mizrahi with choreography by John Heginbotham at The Guggenheim. Jennifer currently works with Laura Peterson Choreography and is in her eighth season as a guest dancer with The Metropolitan Opera where she has worked with Tony Award winning directors such as Mary Zimmerman, Michael Grandage and Bartlett Sher. She has appeared in The Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD broadcasts worldwide, and on PBS’s Great Performances in the operas Manon, Don Giovanni, Armida and La Sonnambula.

GUEST TEACHER FOR TECHNIQUE E

Sumi is a Japanese-American who hails from California. Sumi received her BFA in Dance from the University of California at Santa Barbara where she was the recipient of the Patricia Sparrow Scholarship & Corwin Award for Choreography. She promptly moved to New York where she was a member of Peter Kyle Dance and involved in various projects around the city before returning to study at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Upon receiving her MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, she went on to co-found Summation Dance, showing work at Baryshnikov Arts Center, Judson Memorial Church, Danspace at St. Mark’s Church, the 92nd St Y, Baruch College, La Mama, FlicFest at the Irondale Center, and Dance New Amsterdam, among others. She has worked with Gerald Casel Dance Company and Sarah Holmes Danceworks, and has performed in the works of Doug Varone, Alwin Nikolais, Kyle Abraham, Andrea Miller and Sydney Skybetter. Sumi is on faculty at the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop in Colorado, and is a Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) graduate.
